Many nominees say they will not cross a Writers Guild of America picket line if there is one in front of the upcoming Golden Globe awards ceremony.
"It would be very hard for me to cross a WGA picket line," David Cronenberg, director of "Eastern Promises," told Variety.com. "Everybody will have the same problem."
Glenn Close, nominated for her work on TV's "Damages," vowed, "I would never cross a picket line."
"Mad Men" executive producer Matt Weiner agreed, as did the show's leading man, Jon Hamm.
"There's no way I would cross a picket line," Hamm said. "Not only in respect to Matt, but I'm in 100 percent agreement with him in this fight. It would be a drag not to go, but you have to take a stand."
"Hairspray" director Adam Shankman said he thinks the scribes would be making a mistake if they chose not to attend.
"I think it would be a smack in the face if there was striking at the ceremony because it would be undermining the achievements of their own guild, and that would be reprehensible. I think it's a horribly counter-intuitive idea to strike something that celebrates their own membership," Shankman said.
