'Juno,' 'There' lead indie award nods
"Juno," "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly," "I'm Not There" and "A Mighty Heart" received multiple Independent Spirit Award nods in Los Angeles Tuesday.
The movies, along with "Paranoid Park," are competing for the best feature honor and, with the exception of "A Mighty Heart," also earned nominations for their directors. Nominated for best female lead are Angelina Jolie for "A Mighty Heart;" Sienna Miller for "Interview;" Ellen Page for "Juno;" Parker Posey for "Broken English" and Wei Tang for "Lust Caution." Competing for best supporting female are Cate Blanchett for "I'm Not There;" Anna Kendrick for "Rocket Science;" Jennifer Jason Leigh for "Margot at the Wedding;" Tamara Podemski for "Four Sheets to the Wind" and Marisa Tomei for "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead." Shortlisted for best male lead are Pedro Castaneda for "August Evening;" Don Cheadle for "Talk to Me;" Philip Seymour Hoffman for "The Savages;" Tony Leung for "Lust, Caution" and Frank Langella for "Starting Out in the Evening."
