Representatives of the striking Writers Guild of America resumed talks with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers in Los Angeles Monday.

It marked the first time since the strike began three weeks ago that the two sides returned to the bargaining table.

The session, which took place at an undisclosed Los Angeles hotel, was scheduled as the first of three days of negotiations, Variety.com reported.

Talks concluded in the early evening and were set to Tuesday morning.

Because of the news blackout in place, neither side offered any comment, the trade paper said.

The WGA and the AMPTP are locked in a dispute on key issues such as writer compensation for work distributed on the Internet, mobile phones and other new media.

Since the strike began three weeks ago, production has been shut down on numerous TV series and late-night talk shows. Several film projects have also been postponed.
