"Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" opened on strike-bound Broadway Friday after a Manhattan judge said the New York show could go on.
Most of Broadway is dark due to a stagehand strike that began Nov. 10.
Earlier this week, Supreme Court Justice Helen Freedman granted an injunction filed by the show's producers, allowing the curtains to rise once again on the holiday musical.
Striking Broadway stagehands removed their picket line at the St. James Theater, home to "The Grinch," and agreed to go back to work because the show was a limited-engagement production in danger of closing, The New York Post has reported.
However, Jujamcyn Theaters, the group that owns the St. James, refused to let the show go on, arguing it would only be allowed to reopen when the strike is over.
The matter went to court and Freedman's decision allowed performances of the show to resume.
The "Grinch" returned to the stage at 11 a.m. Friday, New York One reported.
