Russell Crowe is desperately hoping that the director
Ridley Scott, the one that directed Gladiator, will win an Oscar.
Russell Crowe won an Academy Award for his role in Sir Ridley Scott's epic Gladiator. And the actor is deeply convinced that Scott is the one who really deserve the big award.
Crowe said about the director: "If there's any director I know who deserves an Oscar, it's Ridley Scott. He is one of the greatest visual artists of our time and deserving of any honour that comes his way."
American Gangster is the new upcoming movie from the director, gathering Russell Crowe and
Denzel Washington, a script by Schindler's List writer Steve Zaillian.
There is a big chance that this movie could bring the waited award for the movie director.
The film tells a story about Frank Lucas, a real-life gangster from Harlem, New York who revolutionised the drug trade in the early 1970s.
Lucas, a former gang lieutenant, hit on a scheme to smuggle pure heroin from south-east Asia inside the coffins of US servicemen being flown back from war-torn Vietnam.
American Gangster was released in the United States and Canada in the beginning of November 2007.
