Johnny Depp is a fantastic actor, he can get in all kind of skins by acting. From a romantic boy like he was in Cry-Baby, to a quite equilibrate man in From Hell, moreover to a pirate in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

We have seen many actor skills in Depp’s roles, but his new upcoming movie represents more then we have seen in the Pirates trilogy.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a 2007 film adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler musical of the same name.

Depp stars as a man unjustly sent to prison who vows revenge, not only for that cruel punishment, but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his wife and daughter. When he returns to reopen his barber shop, Sweeney Todd becomes the Demon Barber of Fleet Street who “shaved the heads of gentlemen who never thereafter were heard from again.”
About his co-partner actress in the movie: “But easier than Helena Bonham Carter's job in playing Mrs. Lovett, Todd's ghoulish partner in crime. Desperate to be part of Todd's life and to exorcise his wife's ghost, she becomes his business associate, grinding victims into meat pies and selling them to an unsuspecting public. ''It's so sick,'' she says of the subplot, wondering about the reaction. ''I hope we get away with it.''

About making a musical and Depp’s skills to sing: “Depp did have the advantage of a musical background. The actor first came to L.A. in the early '80s as the lead guitarist in a pompadoured punk-pop quartet called the Kids. The group lasted only a few years, and Depp has noodled around on guitar and bass in a number of other bands since.”
Burton said that it felt that Sweeney should be deliberately grotesque — a Mario Bava gorefest with ballads. ''It just goes with the story,'' he says of the geysers of plasma. ''I'd seen different Sweeney Todd productions on stage, and when they skimped on the blood, the production lost something. Everything is so internal with Sweeney that [the blood] is like his emotional release. It's more about catharsis than it is a literal thing.''

Sacha Baron Cohen plays another barber in Sweeney Todd. What’s he like when he’s not Borat or Bruno or Ali G? He’s not what I expected. I didn’t look at those characters and think, This will be the sweetest guy in the world. He’s incredibly nice. A real gentleman, kind of elegant. I was impressed with him. He’s kind of today’s equivalent of Peter Sellers.
