Jim Carrey to bring Christmas this year

Jim Carey is preparing to star in a new animated adaptation of A Christmas Carol.

The Bruce Almighty funnyman will play Scrooge, as well as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Present and Future in the new special-effects extravaganza directed by Robert Zemeckis for Walt Disney Pictures.

The movie will include the performance technology seen in his 2004 film The Polar Express and forthcoming Beowulf.

Other actors to have played Charles Dickens' iconic character include Bill Murray, Michael Caine, Patrick Stewart and Albert Finney.

Carrey's upcoming projects are "Ripley's Believe It or Not," and providing the voice of Horton for the animated film "Horton Hears a Who."
