The horror show "30 Days of Night" debuted at No. 1 Sunday, leading a flurry of new movies showing in U.S. theaters.
The David Slade-directed movie, starring Josh Hartnett, pulled in $16 million in ticket sales in its first weekend, Box Office Mojo reported.
Four other new movies started out in the Top 10: "Gone Baby Gone," a Ben Affleck crime drama, $6 million, at No. 5; the sports comedy "The Comebacks, $5.85 million, at No. 6; "Christmas in Disney Digital 3-D (2007 re-issue), $5.15 million, at No. 8; and "Rendition," a thriller starring Reese Witherspoon, $4.18 million, No. 9.
"Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married" came in at No. 2 with $12.1 million in estimated ticket sales after debuting in first place last week. "The Game Plan" slipped to third with $8.12 million in sales, while "Michael Clayton" remained fourth at $7.1 million.
Also staying in the top tier were "We Own the Night" at seventh with $5.5 million and "The Heartbreak Kid" at 10th with $3.9 million.
Booted out were "Elizabeth: The Golden Age," "The Kingdom," "Across the Universe," "Resident Evil: Extinction" and "The Seeker: The Dark is Rising."
