Actor Jason Mewes to Appear at 2007 Eerie Horror Film Festival

The Eerie Horror Film Festival & Expo that takes place October 10 – 14, 2007 at the Erie Playhouse and Avalon Hotel in Erie, Pa, has announced that Actor Jason Mewes, best known for roles in several Kevin Smith comedies, will be appearing at their annual event, informs PR.com.

Mewes earned immediate cult status for his portrayal of the character Jay in 1994’s indie classic, “Clerks”, a film that also catapulted director Kevin Smith into the mainstream almost overnight.

While Mewes is most associated with the comedy genre, he has recently made appearances in a handful of horror films, including “Scream 3”, “The Tripper” and the 2005 Project Greenlight film, “Feast”.

Jason MewesAccording to the same source, Mewes will be visiting the Eerie Horror Film Festival in October to support his latest horror/comedy, “Netherbeast Incorporated”, a humorous film about vampires set in modern day corporate America.

Filmmakers Brian and Dean Ronalds will also be in attendance.

“I think it’s awesome to see Jason Mewes venturing into horror movie territory”, said Festival Director Greg Ropp, “and we’re very excited to have him at our show this year.”

Fans will have a chance to meet their favorite stars, buy horror related merchandise and converse with film company representatives at the Carnival of Carnage

Attendees will also be able to vote for their favorite films and check show times using their cell phones this season.

According to the official site of  "The Eerie Horror Film Festival" , special guests for the 2007 Eerie Horror Film Festival include actress Adrienne Barbeau (“The Fog”), Dee Wallace Stone (“E.T.”), Tom Savini (“Grindhouse”), James Duval ("Donnie Darko"), Michael Berryman ("The Hills Have Eyes") and Ken Foree (“Dawn of the Dead”), with many more to be announced in the near future.

Past guests have included PJ Soles (“Halloween”), Tony Todd (“Candyman”), Lloyd Kaufman (“Toxic Avenger”), Gunnar Hansen (“Texas Chainsaw Massacre”), Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick (“The Omen”), Lynn Lowry (“I Drink Your Blood”), Nancy Loomis (“Halloween”), Don Edmonds (“Ilsa: She-Wolf of the SS”), Charles Cyphers (“Halloween”), Eugene Clark (“Land of the Dead”), Tom Atkins (“Halloween III”), Alex Vincent (“Child’s Play”), Joe Pilato (“Day of the Dead”) and Academy Award nominated director John Hancock
