Daniel Baldwin, part of the U.S. Baldwin acting family, says it's a daily struggle but he thinks this time he's got a good shot at staying away from cocaine.
Baldwin told CNN talk show host Larry King Wednesday he's using the 12-step method, including going to regular group meetings, to help him cope with his addiction, which he says he developed within six months of first using cocaine in 1989.
Every second of every day, he said, he's moving either toward continued sobriety or toward relapse, but so far he's stayed clean.
Baldwin, 46, has gone through nine stints in rehabilitation but thinks this time it'll stick because if he didn't quit, I was going to die.
Another motivation: He wants to be there for his son. Baldwin also said his family was slow to believe he's truly turned the corner but have begun to rally around him as he re-earns their trust.
