Valentino to mark 45 years of designing

Italian fashion icon Valentino said he would mark his 45th anniversary in the trade in Rome with the biggest show the world of fashion has ever seen.

The 74-year-old designer said during a news conference in Paris that he would return to Rome with a number of surprises which I hope will turn your heads around, the Italian news agency ANSA said.

Although his fashion house is based in Rome, Valentino has not presented a collection in the Italian capital for years.

The bash is scheduled to take place July 6-8. While details won't be publicized for another two weeks, sources said it would include a fashion show at the ancient Roman Coliseum.
