Oscar winner actress Helen Mirren wore more than £2million worth of jewellers for Vanity Fair after-party on Sunday night, but had to be cut out of them at the end of the evening.

According to Fametastic, Helen was bordered by armed bodyguards protecting the jewels on loan from Chopard and at the end of the night, the guards removed the 55-carat diamond bracelet, 16-carat diamond cluster earrings and the 62-carat brooch that had been stitched to her dress for fear that it might get lost.

“Other partygoers were astonished to see the Queen being stripped of her jewels”, revealed a witness.

Best Actress winner Helen also revealed that as fun as it was to be the belle of the ball, it was all a bit too much for her.

At the Vanity Fair after-party she said, regarding her custom-made Christian Lacroix dress and the loaned jewellery: “I really do feel like a Queen - or fairy princess or fairy godmother. I love it. [But] all I want to do is curl up with a hot water bottle, read a book and then go to sleep.”
