Chris Hayward dies of cancer at 81Emmy-winning television writer Chris Hayward died on November 20 in California at age 81. The New York Times said the cause of death was cancer, according to Hayward's wife. For many years, Hayward was a writer for Jay Ward Productions, creators of the notorious “Rocky” and “Bullwinkle” cartoons, which were a cold war spoof. Hayward, also the creator of the “Mountie Dudley Do-Right” character, once had his work banned in Canada because the “Dudley Do-Right” character was considered insulting to the country. Hayward's work also included "The Munsters," about the daily life of a family of ghouls. Born in June 1925 in Bayonne, N.J., Hayward is survived by his wife, a sister, three children and two grandchildren. Publication date: 20 December 2006 Source: Archive

Obama buys Olympic TV ad package
The Barack Obama U.S. presidential campaign has bought a $5 million package of television spots for the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, Advertising Age said.The package for the presumed Democratic nominee includes network TV as well as cable ads for the Games, which begin Aug. 8 and will be broadcast by NBC Universal.
