Nicole Kidman wanted to stay married to Tom Cruise forever.

The Australian actress married Tom in 1990 and the “Top Gun” star left her just before their tenth wedding anniversary, although they stayed husband until 2001.

"Honestly, I would have stayed married for the rest of my life. It's not like I regret who I was in that marriage, I don't at all. It was eleven years of my life. It wasn't 50 years, it turned out to be 11”, Nicole told Vogue magazine.

"You get the advice, 'Don't get married when you're 22', and you just think, 'They don't know what they're talking about!' But now I look back and think, 'Oh, there's probably some truth to that", added Kidman.

The “Cold Mountain” star was pregnant when Tom left her, and she suffered a miscarriage shortly afterwards. They broke up for unrevealed reasons in 2001.

Nicole also spoke about meeting her present husband Keith Urban, who she married this summer.

"I was very wary, and damaged. It wasn't that I'd give up hope, I was, just, asleep. But now I feel like I've woken up again. Rather than living through characters, I've learned to be myself", said the Oscar-winning star.

Recovering alcoholic Keith checked into rehab last month after falling off the wagon while Nicole was away filming “His Dark Materials”. The actress flew home to Nashville to be with her husband.
