Leonardo DiCaprio may be dating Victoria's Secret model Bar Rafaeli, but he said he will only buy a diamond for his mother, Irmelin.
The “Titanic” star would only buy diamonds for his mother, if she wanted one, but that he can't remember the last time he did.
"Well, I don't remember the last time I have. My mom is the only person that I would buy something like that for, and for a while now she hasn't wanted one," said DiCaprio quoted by Contactmusic.
The Hollywood actor is at present promoting his new movie “Blood Diamond”, which chronicles the corrupt days of 'blood diamonds' in Sierra Leone, when the precious gems were used to finance civil wars and rebel activity which killed thousands of Africans.
The Hollywood actor also urged possible diamond buyers to check the authentication of gems before paying, so they can ensure the stone isn't a "conflict diamond".
"But that isn't to say that people shouldn't buy them. From my conversations with Global Witness or Amnesty International, you have to go into the stores and buy these diamonds and ask for a certificate, ask for some sort of authentication that this isn't a conflict diamond. That's one of the biggest ways that this whole process can be put to a stop," said Leonardo.
In the film Leonardo DiCaprio as Danny Archer, a South African mercenary, and Djimon Hounsou as Solomon Vandy, a Mende fisherman join together in a common quest to recover a rare pink diamond that can change their lives.
