Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe split because of the stress of balancing their careers and family responsibilities, according to the actress, as Contactmusic notes.

The pair comes apart in October this year after seven years of marriage. They have two children, Ava Elizabeth, who’s seven, and Deacon, who’s just three-year-old.

Witherspoon doesn't accuse the actor, but suggests they both neglected each other, as saying: "Love is a beautiful thing. But you've got 50 things that come during the day, like driving the kids to school, picking up the in-laws at the airport and working on a script when one of the kids has a high fever."
