Montreal's Festival du Nouveau Cinema will open its 35th edition October 18 with Quebec director Philippe Falardeau's "Congorama," as Reuters reports.
"Congorama" is about an eccentric Belgian inventor who travels to Quebec to find his birth family.
The much expected event will be closed by Pedro Almodovar's "Volver" on Oct. 26
"Volver," which stars Penelope Cruz, is Spain 's entry for consideration in the foreign-language Oscar race.

The all festival 189 films will screen from 39 countries, as: dramas "12:08 East of Bucharest," by Romania's Corneliu Porumboiu, South Korean Chang-ho Cho's "The Peter Pan Formula", "Tachigui: The Amazing Lives of the Fast-Food Grifters," a film with photo-scan animation from Japan's Mamoru Oshii, or Satoshi Kon's "Paprika," an animated feature that uses more conservative filmmaking techniques.
Canadian filmmakers Dennis Villeneuve and Guy Maddin were asked to produce short films exclusively for the festival.
