Salma Hayek announced that she is calling off her engagement to billionaire fiance Francois-Henri Pinault.
The couple announced their engagement and Hayek's pregnancy last year, which was followed by the birth of daughter Valentina in September 2007.
And the couple was expected to marry in $3.5 million next spring. But a spokesman for Hayek has confirmed the couple has called off the engagement.
"We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been canceled. There will be no further comment," Cari Ross, Hayek's spokeswoman, said in a statement.
For Hayek, 41, getting married was an entirely different issue, as she told the April issue of Glamour that she didn''t feel the "need" to get married.
"Do I think we are going to get married? Probably. Will it make a difference? I hope not," she said.
"You want to grow old with someone, you want to have a partner and to have children — we have all those things.
"Some people need the commitment. Maybe we''ll just make the party!" she had added.
