Bon Jovi visits Habitat family

New Jersey rocker and humanitarian Jon Bon Jovi reportedly visited a Detroit family in its Habitat for Humanity home before a concert.

Bon Jovi has been working with the organization since 2005, trying to raise awareness regarding the need for affordable housing in the United States.

The Detroit Free Press said five more new Habitat homes are to be built in Detroit's Morningside neighborhood by November.

Those who wish to participate in the Habitat program are required to attend financial planning classes, maintain a bank account, spend a certain amount of hours actually building the house and fulfill a list of other requirements, the newspaper noted.

The Williams family, whom Bon Jovi visited Monday, moved into their home in June 2007.

We really want to revitalize the neighborhood ... so that the kids can play in these streets, the Free Press quoted Bon Jovi as saying Monday. That's what America is all about.

Williams and his wife, Lisa, who have four children, were expected to attend Bon Jovi's concert Tuesday night.
