WB to BBC: No 'Friends' flick in the works

There are no plans to bring the once-popular U.S. television sit-com Friends to the big screen, despite rumors to the contrary, Warner Bros. has told the BBC.

The series about six friends dealing with relationships and careers in New York City ended in 2004 after 10 seasons. It starred Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer.

An unnamed source was quoted this week as saying the cast are keen to reprise their roles, under the right circumstances.

The success of 'Sex and the City' has really got their wheels spinning about how a 'Friends' film could be just as big, if done right, the source said.

However, Jayne Trotman, director of publicity for Warner Bros. in the United Kingdom, told the British network there is no truth in the story.

Cox's publicist, John Fogelman, also told the BBC he knew nothing of plans for a film, while Matthew Perry's spokeswoman, Lisa Kasteler, added, Nothing is happening in this regard, so the rumor is false.
