'Iron Man' dominates U.S. box office again

HOLLYWOOD, May 11 (UPI) -- Iron Man vanquished two new U.S. box-office rivals to finish at No. 1 for a second straight week with an estimated $50.5 million, Box Office Mojo said Sunday.

The Marvel Comics-Paramount Pictures release -- starring Robert Downey Jr. in the title role -- has grossed an estimated $177.3 million in its first two weekends in release, the box-office tracker reported.

Two major new releases -- Speed Racer and What Happens in Vegas -- battled it out for second place.

Speed Racer, which got mostly poor reviews, grossed an estimated $20.2 million. What Happens in Vegas, a romantic comedy starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher, took in an estimated $20 million to debut at No. 3, Box Office Mojo said.

Two other romantic comedies rounded out the top five -- with Made of Honor taking in $7.6 million and Baby Mama adding $5.7 million to its take.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall was No. 6 with $3.7 million, followed by Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay with $3.5 million; The Forbidden Kingdom, $1.9 million; Nim's Island, $1.3 million; and Redbelt, $1.1 million.

'Eurovision' head criticizes Wogan's style

LONDON, May 11 (UPI) -- BBC host Terry Wogan who emcees Eurovision Song Contest, makes the contest look ridiculous, Eurovision TV Director Bjorn Erichsen says.

Erichsen said Hogan's antics on the show have been a detriment to its reputation. He blasted British viewers for not taking the competition seriously, The Daily Telegraph said Saturday.

(Britain) has double standards in the contest, Erichsen said. "It is something you love to hate. It's something to laugh at.

Terry Wogan is a problem because he makes it ridiculous, he added. I know he is very popular, and maybe that is the reason why a lot of people watch. But one day he will have to retire and the BBC will have to find someone else.

Erichsen told the Telegraph he brought his concerns to the BBC in preparation for next week's Eurovision competition in the Serbian capital of Belgrade.

Provocative teen pics prompt investigation

MELBOURNE, May 11 (UPI) -- An Australian fashion magazine is being investigated after it featured photographs of a topless 16-year-old female model, the girl's agent says.

Priscilla Leighton-Clark, who represents model Zippora Seven, says her client was shown in a number of provocative poses in an 18-page Russh Australia editorial fashion spread, The (Melbourne) Sunday Herald-Sun reported.

Leighton-Clark maintains that the photo spread, which also featured 16-year-old male model Levi Clarke, was simply too provocative given her client's age.

It's wrong that our girl has appeared in a magazine exposing her breasts when she's so young, Leighton-Clark told the newspaper.

Russh editor Natalie Shukur defended the spread, which featured Seven and Clarke in a bubble bath together.

We believe Russh readers 'get it' in this narrative story, said Shukur, whose publication is being investigated by the Australian Classification Board, which reviews and classifies films, computer games and publications before they are released to the public.

These are beautiful images of two young people in character, said Shukur.

London flower show to honor Harrison

LONDON, May 11 (UPI) -- The Chelsea Flower Show in London is set to honor the Beatles' George Harrison with a special garden, show officials say.

Garden designer Yvonne Innes said Harrison -- who died of cancer at 58 in 2001 -- was an amazing landscape gardener, The Sunday Times of London reported.

I also realized few people knew this side of him and decided to design a narrative garden of his life and passing over to the next life, she said.

Innes worked with Harrison's widow, Olivia, to design the flower show garden.

One section of the garden will be dedicated to Harrison's time with the Beatles, while another follows his life in the 1960s, the newspaper said. Two other segments at the show, which runs from May 18 to May 25, reflect Harrison's spiritual life and later years.
