LOS ANGELES, May 10 (UPI) -- Hollywood director Steven Spielberg has been protective of the marketing of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, his publicist says.

Publicist Marvin Levy, who has worked with Spielberg for more than 30 years, said the director has been active in nearly every marketing aspect for the fourth Indiana Jones film, The New York Times said Saturday.

He gets involved with everything, Levy said. "Every TV spot, every line in every ad, every advertising concept.

When a movie opens, he usually disappears, Levy added. He usually doesn't want to know all the details about how it's doing.

The film is due in theaters May 22. It has not been made available yet for screening by film critics, but some reviews have already appeared online, and at least one was anything but a rave.

The Times said the poster is a theater executive who saw the film at an exhibitors' screening, and noted that theater executives may have a motive for downplaying a movie's commercial prospects -- to get better terms with studios whose films they exhibit.

PHOENIX, May 10 (UPI) -- Rapper DMX was arrested in his home near Phoenix Friday after allegedly ignoring police officers' attempts to serve a search warrant, police said.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the Grand Champ rapper was arrested after a search of his home turned up evidence of drug possession and animal abuse, E! Online reported.

The musician-actor allegedly had five pit bull puppies on his property and the animals were all malnourished, Arpaio said.

A guy like this DMX character with all his money and fame has no excuse for not providing proper care for his animals, said the sheriff. He has a long criminal history and obviously has no respect for the law.

The search warrant was part of a seven-month investigation into the Cradle 2 the Grave star, E! Online said.

The Web site said DMX, whose home was also raided last August based on similar allegations, is due in court Thursday to face seven misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty and four counts of felony drug possession.

LOS ANGELES, May 10 (UPI) -- Canadian singer Alanis Morissette says she wrote songs for her new album, Flavors of Entanglement, to help her deal with problems in her private life.

The Jagged Little Pill singer told People.com she was able to work thorough a number of personal issues by writing songs for the new album, which is set for a June 10 release.

The record chronicles the rock bottom finally being hit, Morissette said.

Morisette's decision to call off her engagement to actor Ryan Reynolds in 2007 was said to be part of what the singer called a personal unraveling of significant relationships in my life.

The Grammy Award-winning singer said she is in a new romantic relationship and remains hopeful about the future and true love, People.com said.

Oh yeah. My nature is always hope filled. It's more about values matching now, Morissette told the Web site. That's the foundation.

LAS VEGAS, May 10 (UPI) -- A former model on the TV show Deal or No Deal has filed a lawsuit against a Las Vegas strip club for using her image in a promotion, court documents say.

Los Angeles Superior Court documents said model April Scott is suing Deja Vu Inc. for allegedly using a picture of her in a promotion for the company's Little Darlings strip club in Las Vegas, TMZ.com said Saturday.

In addition to wielding suitcases in the popular NBC game show, Scott appeared as Daisy Duke in a straight-to-video film based on the TV series Dukes of Hazzard.

TMZ.com said the actress is seeking more than $25,000 in damages from Deja Vu Inc. The company has offered no comment on the suit, the report said.
