The Motion Picture Association of America said The Pirate Bay, a Swedish file-sharing site, owes it $15 million for illegally distributing films.
The Swedish News Agency TT said the amount relates to the losses MPAA members suffered as an indirect result of the illegal distribution of a Harry Potter
film, The Pink Panther,
Syriana
and Walk the Line,
as well as the first season of the TV show Prison Break.
Gottfrid Svartholm Varg, co-founder of The Pirate Bay, said the MPAA's allegations are without merit.
These are very well developed fantasies. They have a good sense of imagination,
Varg told The Local.
Varg and his fellow Bay co-founders -- Fredrik Neij, Peter Sunde and Carl Lundstrom -- have been indicted for allegedly being accessories to violating copyright law.
A date for the trial has not yet been set, TT said.
