Chesney finishes concert despite injury

Kenny Chesney hurt his foot before a performance in Columbia, S.C., but his fans' support helped him play though the pain, the country singer said.

Chesney said he injured his right foot when it got caught in an elevator lifting device that carried him to the stage at Williams-Brice Stadium, the 44,424 audience members helped motivate him to complete his concert, People magazine reported Sunday.

I took one look at those fans, and there was no way I wasn't going on. Sometimes the energy and the adrenalin pull you through, Chesney said in a statement following Saturday's concert.

Honestly, through the pain, through all of it, Columbia, S.C., totally got me through.

While the 40-year-old singer did not mention the injury during the concert, reports said he was visibly in pain during breaks in his performance.

People said the No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems singer was treated by a University of South Carolina team physician immediately following the show, but the status of the injury was unknown.
