Indiana Jones latest film to unspool at CannesThe new Indiana Jones movie, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, according to one of its stars. British actor John Hurt, who plays Abner Ravenwood in the fourth installment of the adventure series, has revealed to the BBC the film will unspool at the French event, just before it launches worldwide on May 22. Abner Ravenwood is an academic and father of Marion Ravenwood, Indy's lover from the first film, 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark. Actress Karen Allen is reprising her role as Marion in the latest installment. The Cannes festival program will not be released until later in April and no one with the film or the festival have commented on Hurt's revelation. Hurt said he could not divulge any details of the latest film, which took 18 years to get to the screen. He did praise actor Harrison Ford, who is returning to play the hero at age 65. The film, which also stars Cate Blanchett and Shia LaBeouf, is reportedly set to take place during the 1950s, a major difference from the pre-Second World War time zone of the other films. Fans were elated when in 2006, Lucas confirmed a sequel had been written, after more than a decade in development. Publication date: 07 April 2008 Source: Archive
