Worker killed in 'Batman' crash

A crew member on the upcoming movie, "Batman: The Dark Knight," was killed in England when the truck he was in crashed into a tree.

The special effects technician died when a 4x4 carrying a camera platform crashed on a test run while following a stunt vehicle, the Banbury Guardian reported Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Longcross, Surrey, Monday afternoon, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, the newspaper said.

A spokeswoman for the studio said the accident didn't happen on set or while filming was taking place. She also said no actors were involved in the fatal mishap at a special effects facility.

"Warner Bros. Pictures and the entire cast and crew of 'The Dark Knight' are deeply saddened by this tragedy and their hearts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased," she said.

Police and the office of the Health and Safety Executive are investigating the accident.
