VH1 adds new original programming night

VH1, which currently offers original programming on Sundays and Mondays, will add original programming on Thursdays, the company announced in New York.

The cable channel will launch seven new series to fill the space, TV Week reported Wednesday.

VH1 currently has original programming on Monday and Sunday nights. The addition of original programming on Thursday nights could position VH1 to capitalize on the night's customary status as prime real estate for movie ads.

The new shows include: "Click," a search for the next great fashion photographer; "The Salt 'N' Pepa Show," which follows the music group as it tries to reunite; "America's Most Smartest Model," an intelligence contest with a $100,000 prize; and "Old Skool with Terry and Gita," in which vintage Hollywood stars Terry Moore, 78, and Gita Hall, 73, investigate currently hip youth-oriented scenes. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
