Tim Burton to direct 3D films for Disney
Hollywood filmmaker Tim Burton is set to direct a pair of 3D movies for Walt Disney Studios, Variety.com reported Friday.
Burton's film credits include "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Big Fish," "Sleepy Hollow" and "Edward Scissorhands." His screen adaptation of the musical, "Sweeney Todd," is slated to hit movie theaters before the end of the year.
Disney has signed Burton to direct 3D feature versions of the Lewis Carroll classic, "Alice in Wonderland" and of his own 1984 short film, "Frankenweenie."
"Alice" will combine performance-capture imagery with live-action footage, while "Frankenweenie" will be shot in stop-motion animation, the entertainment industry trade paper said.
Burton previously produced "Nightmare Before Christmas" and directed "Ed Wood" at Disney. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
