The SAG Awards 2008: stars on the red carpet

The Screen Actors Guild Award (SAG) is an American labor union representing over 120,000 film and television principal performers and background performers worldwide

The Screen Actors Guild Award was held at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday in Los Angeles.

The show is one of the most important awards in movie land. The stars that were present at the show are Debra Messing, The Office star Mindy Kaling, Hairspray Amanda Bynes and Nikki Blonsky, Sara Ramirez, Ashley Tisdale, Ellen Pompeo and more.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt was a good looking couple together like as they were at the first date. Jolie was nominated for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role” for her role as Mariane Pearl in Paramount Vantage’s A Mighty Heart.

One of the winners, Javier Bardem won the supporting-actor prize for No Country for Old Men and was quite the comedian during his acceptance speech: “Thank you, guys, for hiring me, and thank you for taking the hard work of choosing the good takes instead of the ones where I really sucked.”

Desperate Housewives stars Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria were looking gorgeous on the red carpet. The Desperate Housewives cast are up for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series”.

Cate Blanchett was nominated for two SAG awards this time around. The mom-to-be is up for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role” for her role as Queen Elizabeth I in Universal Pictures’ Elizabeth: The Golden Age and “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role” for in The Weinstein Company’s I’m Not There.
