Swank to donate hair to charity
U.S. talk-show host Oprah Winfrey cut off nine inches of Hilary Swank's hair so it could be donated to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program, People.com said.
Pantene Beautiful Lengths is an initiative created to help women who have lost their hair during cancer treatment.
Winfrey will be seen cutting Swank's hair on the episode of her talk show slated to air Friday.
Swank, 33, won best actress Oscars for "Boys Don't Cry" and "Million Dollar Baby" and will soon be seen in the big-screen romance, "P.S., I Love You."
"It's taken months to get to this moment," Winfrey said. "It involves a two-time Academy Award winner, a sharp object, and me."
"I've been growing it for the last six months to donate my hair," Swank explained. "I've been taking a lot of vitamins and taking really good care of it, knowing that it would go to a woman in need." // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
