Nicole Kidman's “The Golden Compass” on top
Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig did a great job in 'The Golden Compass' that has topped the weekend box office with an earning of 26.1 million dollars.
The Golden Compass is a fantasy film based upon Northern Lights (also known as The Golden Compass), the first novel in Philip Pullman's trilogy His Dark Materials. Along Kidman and Craig newcomer Dakota Blue Richards plays Lyra, a 12-year-old girl who sets out on an epic quest to save not only her world, but ours as well.
In second place on the list complied by Exhibitor Relations was Disney's 'Enchanted', a movie that pokes fun at Disney princess adventures, with an earning of 10.7 million dollars.
Third highest grosser for the weekend was family comedy-drama 'This Christmas' with an earning of 5 million dollars.
The top five was rounded off by 'Fred Claus' and Angelina Jolie's animated flick 'Beowulf' that raked in 4.7 million dollars and 4.4 million dollars respectively.
