Nicole Kidman in “Margot at the Wedding” upcoming movie

Nicole Kidman will star in the upcoming movie “Margot at the Wedding” along to Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jack Black. The movie is written and directed by Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale-2005).

The film has been described as an intimate, character-driven, domestic comedy-drama. Nicole  and Jennifer will play the characters as sisters named Margot and Pauline. Kidman's character, Margot, is a successful but neurotic writer who brings her 11-year-old son (played by newcomer Zane Pais) to spend a weekend visiting her free-spirited sister Pauline (Leigh) on the eve of her wedding to Black's character. Margot disapproves of Pauline's choice of fiancé, which causes tension between the two sisters.

Kidman's Margot arrives from New York to attend her pregnant sister's country wedding — and promptly casts aspersions on the nuptials. Moreover, Kidman's character is cheating on her husband and making every effort to break up her sister's engagement to the unemployed Malcolm.

Baumbach cast Kidman because, he says, he "wanted someone who would devour the part and go for it and not comment on it and not be afraid of it.

"I didn't know her personally, but I cast her in my head. I had coffee with her and gave her the script. She called me the next day and said she wanted to do it."

The movie is currently scheduled for US release by Paramount Vantage on November 16, 2007.
