New York library site of 'Sex' wedding

The highly anticipated wedding of actress Sarah Jessica Parker's character on "Sex and the City" was filmed at the New York Public Library.

The library's manager of special events marketing said the library offered the perfect ambiance for a wedding and therefore represented the ideal spot for the "Sex and the City: The Movie" event, the New York Daily News reported Saturday.

"Not all New York landmark buildings and cultural institutions allow weddings; very few do," library official Lis Pearson said. "I think people just come here and see things like the huge marble staircase and know they want to walk down them in their wedding dress."

While the film's wedding scene was completed on Tuesday at the library, that doesn't mean that the public locale has seen its last marriage for the year.

Pearson told the Daily News that the library was housing nine weddings this year and that happy couples have already reserved 2011 dates in order to have the elegant site available for their special day.  // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
