Moscow: Dog fashion inspired by human catwalk shows
According to RIA Novosti, many of the designs being featured on the catwalk at Moscow's current International Fashion Week can also be seen in new spring/summer collections that are now arriving at the city's dog clothing emporia. According to the head of one such boutique, Milord, pink sunglasses and rhinestone-studded sports suits will be the main hits both for fashion-conscious humans and their likeminded pets this season.
"Dog fashion tends to orient itself toward, or to even copy fashion novelties from human catwalk shows," Denis Vasilyev said. "The military style was the hit of the season last year, and now it has given way to sports suits with rhinestones laid in skull-shape patterns. If we take a look at youth fashion, that's just the type of clothing that is currently in vogue."
According to owners of another local dog fashion boutique, Charlie, brightly colored raincoats and caps in green, purple or pink are the funkiest items to wear in Moscow's canine community this spring. Yutaks, a Moscow-based firm making wear for pet dogs, has worked out a size scale for pet dogs so that their owners will not have to pick out clothing items based on the breed, RIA Novosti informs.
