U.S. music icon Michael Jackson has moved into a $60 million compound owned by Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei in a gated community in Las Vegas.

Jackson moved into the 100,000-square-foot property during the weekend after his six-month lease expired on a $1 million home elsewhere in the city, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Tuesday.

Someone who saw Jackson's vacated house said the singer left the 10-bedroom home a mess, telling the Review-Journal it appeared the home hadn't been cleaned in months.

Jackson left a suite at The Mirage hotel-casino in a similar condition after a lengthy stay there several years ago.

The 53-year-old Prince Jefri, one of Jackson's longtime friends, built his Spanish Trail compound in the 1990s, when he was known as a high-roller playboy with lavish tastes.

The prince fled Las Vegas when his brother filed embezzlement charges against him to curb his spending. Prince Jefri reportedly is living in exile in London.

Spanish Trail has been home for celebrities since it opened, with Andre Agassi, Greg Maddux, Siegfried Fischbacher, David Copperfield, and Randall Cunningham among the residents.
