Hugh Jackman: first Oscars promo pictures
Enjoy the very first promo pic of Hugh Jackman, who will host the 2009 Oscars in less than two weeks.
Although he has previously been a presenter, this will be the 40-year-old Aussie actor’s first time center stage at the Oscar show. However, Hugh has hosted the Tony Awards three times already.
The 81st Academy Awards will air on ABC @ 8PM on Sunday, February 22 from the the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.
This year's awards:The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button leads the field with 13 nominations, including best picture, best director and best actor for Brad Pitt .The film's 13 nominations are just one shy of the all-time record of 14 held by 1997's Titanic and 1950's Bette Davis classic All About Eve , which both went on to win best picture.The film was a joint production by Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros.
Slumdog Millionaire scored 10 nominations and The Dark Knight and Milk each have eight.
Other nominated lead actors include Sean Penn , Mickey Rourke , Frank Langella and Richard Jenkins.
Nominated lead actresses include Angelina Jolie , Kate Winslet , Meryl Streep , Anne Hathaway and Melissa Leo.This is Winslet's sixth nomination. At 33, she is the youngest performer ever to be nominated for six Academy Awards.
Steep, 59, is the world's most nominated actress. She has been on the shortlist for 14 Oscars, winning twice.
Late Australian actor Heath Ledger is nominated for best supporting actor.If he wins, he will be just the second actor to win a posthumous Academy Award.
