Diaz wins to obtain defame damages over cheating claim
Moldova.ORG -- Cameron Diaz accepted "substantial" defame damages over a claim she was cheating with a married man.
According to RTE.ie Diaz, who recently broke up from Justin Timberlake, sued American Media Incorporated, publishers of the National Enquirer over a story published on it's website last May.
The article alleged the Hollywood actress engaged in a "smooching session" with Shane Nickerson, the supervising producer on her MTV show 'Trippin'.
According to the story Diaz was photographed in a romantic clinch and that the revelation was "certain to throw the future of one of Hollywood's most famous couples into doubt".
The article and accompanying photographs were removed from the website and the hard copy edition distributed in the UK didn’t contain either, as Diaz's lawyer said.
The magazine, who accepted the photos didn’t show Diaz and Nickerson in a passionate clinch, but instead involved no more than the actress giving a friend a goodbye hug, apologised unreservedly for the distress caused to Diaz, Timberlake, Nickerson and his wife and has agreed to pay Diaz considerable unrevealed damages.
