Coroner Says Anna Nicole Smith Died of Accidental Overdose
Police in the southeastern U.S. state of Florida have released autopsy reports that indicate former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith died of an accidental drug overdose.
Neither the police nor the medical examiner involved in the case named the drugs that caused Smith's death in Hollywood, Florida, on February 8.
Smith became famous after she married oil billionaire J. Howard Marshall in 1994 when she was 26 years old and he was 89. Smith's legal fight with Marshall's children over his estate went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Smith's own death has sparked another legal dispute, this one over the paternity of her infant daughter, Dannielynn. That case is still before the courts. Her death stirred a media frenzy, coming only five months after the sudden death of her 20-year-old son. // Voice of America
