The League of American Theatres and Producers and Local One, the union representing striking Broadway stagehands, planned to resume talks Wednesday.

The first new round of negotiations since the strike shut down most of Broadway on Nov. 10, began Sunday and ran until Monday morning. They returned to the bargaining table Monday evening after a 12-hour break

They then continued talks Monday night, but didn't reach a deal as the session ended Tuesday morning.

"The League of American Theatres and Producers and Local One talked through the night and were unable to reach an agreement. No further talks are scheduled. Performances will be canceled through Wednesday's matinees," said a statement posted Tuesday morning on the league's Web site.

However, an updated posting on the site said negotiations would resume 10 a.m. EST Wednesday.  // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
