Bond was illicitly downloaded over 200,000
The new James Bond film “Casino Royale” was illicitly downloaded over 200,000 times since it went on cinema release last week, according to rte.ie.
Two pirated versions of the blockbuster were accessible on file sharing networks, as Internet monitoring company Envisional says.
A copy of the movie, apparently from Russia and shot over the heads of a cinema audience, was on the web last Friday; a higher quality, possibly from Italy, was obtainable online on Saturday.
"In the face of this international conspiracy, Bond is really up against it. There are now several million active digital pirates. Many of them are ordinary families that have got into the habit of downloading the latest episodes of American TV hits", said Dr David Price, head of piracy intelligence at Envisional.
"And they don't have any qualms about using file sharing networks to copy new movies without paying," added he.
