Harris began his career as a child actor. His first significant roles came in 1988, when he starred in two movies: Clara's Heart (1988) starring Whoopi Goldberg and Purple People Eater (1988).
Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Neil Patrick Harris earned acclaim for several made-for-TV movies, including My Antonia (1995), Joan of Arc (1999) and The Christmas Blessing (2005).
He landed another sitcom success in 2005 with his role as the womanizing Barney Stinson in CBS’s How I Met Your Mother.
He is dating Broadway actor David Burtka.
