Mary Megan Winningham was born on May 16, 1959 in Phoenix, Arizona. She is an Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated American actress and singer.
Winningham began her career as a singer-songwriter. In 1976, she got her break singing the Beatles song "Here, There, and Everywhere" on "The Gong Show."
In 1980, Winningham starred in "Off the Minnesota Strip". She appeared in 1981 drama Threshold and in the 1983 epic miniseries The Thorn Birds. In 1984 she starred in Helen Keller: The Miracle Continues.
Winningham also starred in drama Miracle Mile (1988) and in Turner & Hooch in 1989. She also appeared on the series ER, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and The Brotherhood of Poland, New Hampshire.
Winningham has also recorded three albums, What Might Be (1992) on the Bay Cities label, and Lonesomers (1998), on the Razor and Tie label, and Refuge Rock Sublime (2007).
