Lauren Helen Graham was born on March 16, 1967 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is an American actress.
Lauren discovered acting while in elementary school and took part in several plays while in high school. After graduating she attended Barnard College (New York) where she got her Bachelor's degree in English. She couldn't get an agent so she also attended Southern Methodist University's Medows School of the Arts (Dallas) where she got a Master's degree in acting in 1992.
She came to Los Angeles in 1995 and started working as a waitress. She soon got the part of Shelly in the first season of Caroline in the City. Guest appearances in News Radio, Law and Order, Seinfeld and 3rd Rock From the Sun followed. After that she played parts in Conrad Bloom, Townies and M.Y.O.B before she achieved the final breakthrough as Lorelai Gilmore in the popular WB show Gilmore Girls.
She has been nominated for various awards including the Golden Globe.
Lauren has also made it to the big screen. She first appeared 1998 in the movie Nightwatch with Ewan McGregor. Sweet November with Keanu Reeves and Bad Santa with Billy Bob Thornton followed. In 2004 she starred in Seeing Other People and in 2005 she played Principal Claire in the Disney movie The Pacifier.
This summer she completed another two movies, Because I said so and Evan Alimighty, a sequel to the highly successful movie Bruce Almighty. Both will be released for the silver screen in 2007. Currently she can be seen in the 7th season of Gilmore Girls on the newly founded CW Network.
