Joan Mary Cusack was born on October 11, 1962 in New York City. She is an Academy Award-nominated American actress and comedian.

Cusack was 18 when she won her first feature film role, a bit part in My Bodyguard.

She starred with her brother John Cusack in the movies Sixteen Candles, The Martian Child, Class, High Fidelity, Grosse Pointe Blank, and Say Anything....

She also starred in The School of Rock (2003), Raising Helen (2004) and Friends with Money (2006).

She is married to attorney Dick Burke, with whom she has two sons.
