Bonnie Lynn Hunt was born on September 22, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois. She is an Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award-nominated American actress, comedian, writer, director and television producer.

Hunt's first starring role in a feature film was 1992's Beethoven. But her most memorable role came in 1996, as Renee Zellweger's sharp-tongued sister in Cameron Crowe's Jerry Maguire.

She landed the starring role of Carol Anne Smithson on the NBC sitcom Grand in 1990. Though short-lived, the show led to more television appearances, including a guest spot on Late Night With David Letterman in 1992. She and the amiable host quickly became friends, and a year later he helped her write and star in her own series for CBS, The Building.

She also starred in The Green Mile (1999), Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With (2006) and voiced Monsters, Inc. (2002), Cars (2006).

Hunt married investment banker John Murphy in 1988.
