Brendan Gleeson was born on 29 March 1955 Dublin, Ireland. He is an Irish actor.

His big screen debut was a bit part in Jim Sheridan’s The Field in 1990. And while he appeared in several films after that, including the Oscar-winning epic Braveheart, it wasn’t until his scene-stealing performances in 1998’s I Went Down and The General that Hollywood stood up and took notice.

He starred in Michael Collins, Cold Mountain, 28 Days Later, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, and The Village. Younger audiences know him as Hogwarts professor Mad-Eye Moody from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Gleeson will reprise the role for 2007’s Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Beowulf (2007).

He also starred in the short film Six-Shooter in 2006, which won an Academy Award for best Live Action Short.

He is married, to his lovely wife Mary since 1982, and has three children.
