James Paul Marsden was born on September 18, 1973 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA. He is a former Versace model and an American actor.

Marsden got his first job on the pilot episode of The Nanny. He then went on to guest star in shows such as Saved by the Bell and Party of Five. He later starred in the ABC show Second Noah. Marsden lost out to Edward Norton for a role in Primal Fear (1996).

He starred in the film X-Men (2000) and its sequels, X2: X-Men United (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). He also appeared in the television series Ally McBeal, in the romantic movie The Notebook (2004) and in the adaptation of the Broadway musical movie Hairspray (2007).

He has been married to Lisa Linde since July 22, 2000.
