William Alan Shatner was born on March 22, 1931 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He is a Canadian actor.
After working on Broadway and in television, he captained the USS Enterprise for television's quintessential science-fiction series, Star Trek (1966–1969), and recreated his roles as Captain Kirk in a number of successful films in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
Shatner also played Kirk in a series of Star Trek movies: Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979); Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan (1982); Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984); Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986); Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989); Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991); and Star Trek: Generations (1994).
He also starred in Other television series include T J Hooker (1982–6), Rescue 911 (1989), and Boston Legal (2005). Among his books are Star Trek Avenger (1997) and Star Trek Preserver (2000).
He managed this most effectively in comedy 'Free Enterprise', in which he had grand delusions of directing a film of Julius Caesar, with himself in all the roles.
Shatner married his fourth wife, Indiana native Elizabeth Martin, on February 13, 2001.
