• Spader wins Emmy for 'Boston Legal'

James Todd Spader was born on February 7, 1960, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He is an Emmy-winning and Golden Globe-nominated American actor.

James became more successful in the film industry after starring in several of “The Brat Pack” films as a bad guy during the 1980’s. However, he is most well know for playing the role of an eccentric character in films such as Sex, Lies, and Videotape, Stargate, and Secretary.

Spader has been in the movies since the 1980s, a decade in which he became known for playing wicked preppies and yuppies in movies such as Pretty in Pink (1986), Less Than Zero (1987) and Wall Street (1987).

His movies include Bad Influence (1990), Stargate (1994), the film version of J.G. Ballard's Crash (1997) and Secretary (2002). In 2003 he joined the cast of the television series The Practice, then continued to play the same character in the show's spin-off, Boston Legal (2004).

His last movies include Alien Hunter (2003) and Shadow of Fear (2004).
