Julianna Luisa Margulies was born on June 8, 1966 in Spring Valley, New York. She is an Emmy award winning American actress.

In 1994 her ER character was originally slated to commit suicide in the show's opening episode, but the plot was changed and Margulies went on to become one of the show's stars.

Her film work since ER includes Evelyn (2002) with Pierce Brosnan and Ghost Ship (2002) with Gabriel Byrne and Ron Eldard.

In August 2006, she appeared in Snakes on a Plane, starring Samuel L. Jackson and in the Sci Fi Channel miniseries The Lost Room.
